FAQQ. I have never heard of Amsoil before where is the product made and how old is the company?
A. Amsoil was created as the first synthetic motor oil in 1972. Being the first in synthetics has Amsoil at the top of the list for many racers, mechanics, collectors and car enthusiasts. Amsoil is manufactured in Superior, Wisconsin, USA. Q. I see you talk about a 25,000 mile oil change and I don't think that it's possible that Amsoil will protect my engine for more than 3,000 miles. Everyone knows that you change your oil every 3 months or 3,000 miles. A. The 3 month/3,000 mile oil change is a marketing tactic as old as the automobile industry. We've all had it pounded into our heads that we need to change oil at this interval with no real good reason for it. Checking the owner's manual for many newer vehicles you'll often see oil change intervals of 5,000, 7,500 or 10,000 miles. No matter what your manual says the oil change industry makes money on that oil change of every 3 months/3,000 miles and will put a sticker on your window telling you to come in then regardless of when you should actually change your oil. Amsoil is a proven product, stress tested for 40 years now and is truly the best synthetic oil available. I have used it in all my vehicles and those of my family since even before selling to my customers and know through the use of oil analysis that the protection my engine gets is verified as the quality of the oil's wear protection, viscosity and ability to withstand high heat are easily within specifications. I love changing the oil in my truck and my wife's car only once a year. Q. What is the difference between synthetic oil and conventional oil? A. Synthetic oils are man made formulations of chemicals and compounds created specifically to address the needs of users who are looking for improved wear protection and longer oil drain intervals vs. conventional petroleum oils. Q. How does Amsoil compare with other synthetic oils in the market? A. There really isn't anyone who comes close to Amsoil on the high end. Oil change intervals of 25,000 miles that are guaranteed not to damage your engine or void your warranty are found only with Amsoil. No one including Mobil 1, Redline or Royal Purple will guarantee their product performance. If you use a synthetic and have to change it when you would have changed your old oil the only benefit is the higher price you're paying, and that's not really a benefit to you. Q. Does Amsoil participate in racing? If it's so good why don't I see a NASCAR sponsored Amsoil car? A. Amsoil sponsors many riders and drivers for all types of sports but does not have a NASCAR sponsored car or driver as it spends its dollars on development rather than on marketing. It is also one of the reasons why a lot of people outside of these racing communities haven't heard of the product. Q. I like the idea of doing an oil change once a year but I'm worried about voiding my warranty. Is there some sort of guarantee for Amsoil's performance? A. You aren't alone in your concern regarding voiding of your manufacturers warranty. What's nice is there is something called the Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975 which makes manufacturer claims of aftermarket parts, or in this case oil, voiding a warranty illegal. Basically, the act was implemented toimprove the adequacy of information available to consumers, prevent deception, and improve competition in the marketing of consumer products. Putting Amsoil in your car, truck or boat won't void any manufacturer's warranty no matter what the guy across the counter is telling you. Additionally, Amsoil does provide a Warranty, that to my knowledge has never been exercised, where Amsoil will pay for any damage caused by the failure of their oil. Q. Can I use any type of oil filter when using Amsoil in my vehicle? A. You may use a filter of your choice but the true benefit of the Amsoil product line is the filter and oil together being changed at the same time, for Signature Series oils and Ea oil filters that would be once a year. If you choose to use a filter that is not an Amsoil filter you will need to change that filter per the specs from its manufacturer. Q. I don't race. Why would I need to put Amsoil in my car? A. Two main reasons why you'd use Amsoil, to keep your car's engine in the best possible condition and the convenience of the time saved by using a better product. Vehicle owners often keep cars longer now than in years past and whether it's for your continued use, the value of a car being sold to someone used or passed on to a family member, you won't get better wear protection than you do with Amsoil.Secondly, and this is specific to the "1 year oil change," if you don't have to change oil more than once a year imagine how much time you are saving not having to drive down to wait in line and then wait while the oil change is being done. Time is money and once a year is better than 2, 3 or 4 times a year. Ask any busy mom who has drop offs and pickups for school, practice, recitals, games etc. |
